About Us
Our Company
OSBORNE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (OCC) has been in business over 25 years. Our organization intitially operated as a joint venture under the name of Elling Halvorson, Inc. and later under the name of Halvorson Osborne Construction Company. We have done business as Osborne since September 3, 1987. We are an employee owned company.
OCC operates in Washington and Alaska. Our executive home office is located in Kirkland, Washington, and we have branch offices in Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. In recent years, our company has employed an average construction season workforce of nearly 500 people. Our annual work volume has been in the range of $25 million to $125 million.
Our company has successfully completed a wide variety of projects. Our primary focus is on commercial, industrial, civil and housing projects for state and federal agencies. We also do selective work in the private market. Many of the projects that we have completed have been design-build projects for which we have selected and managed the design team. We have constructed schools, office buildings, dormitories, aircraft hangars, athletic facilities, warehouses, industrial complexes, housing developments, modular housing, bridges, airports, and roads. We often self-perform many work activities on a project, rather than subcontract them out, so we can maintain control of the project schedule. We also own a large fleet of heavy equipment for use on our civil work.
Since its inception, Osborne has specialized in complex and challenging work, often in remote locations; that is, projects that require extensive preplanning and the ability to coordinate and manage difficult logistical issues. Osborne has also been actively involved in retail development. We have previously developed a 256,500 square foot retail center in Renton, Washington and recently developed a 20-acre retail center in Olympia, Washington.
Safety, quality, schedule and budget are the watchwords of Osborne's business plan. Each of these must be planned and managed on a continuous basis throughout the project. Daily attention to these components, along with completed safely, on-time and within cost constraints.
OCC strives to maintain a safe, well trained, and productive workforce, where employees are valued as key to business success. We take the initiative in local and regional hiring programs, establishing relationships with local job service and employment specialists, working hard to meet or exceed hiring goals established for minority and female workers. OCC also takes care to provide equal opportunities for small, small-disadvantaged, and women-owned subcontractors and suppliers.
Osborne Construction firmly believes in a cooperative method of working with the Owner and its agents, i.e., "Partnering". We have participated in formal Partnering programs on several of our projects and we have found that it is the best way to integrate the goals of the Owner and its Agents with those of the Contractor's project team. We believe that setting up a Partnering atmosphere makes every job better and keeps satisfaction levels high for the Owner, the Contractor, and all other parties associated with the job.
Community relations are also important to Osborne. No matter where the project is located, Osborne strives to be a good neighbor and to be involved; by making employment opportunities available to qualified residents, by using local subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, by donating to neighborhood charities, and by keeping the jobsite clean, orderly, and safe.
Osborne Construction's demonstrated experience, over the years, has resulted in a base of satisfied clients. We bring proactive leadership, quality projects with major emphasis on safety, as well as emphasizing on-time completion within budget. Our internal ability to manage complicated and challenging projects has made us unique in our field as a General Contractor.
